Birth of Daughter Lisa

In 1964 I took a one-year leave-of-absence from Peabody to accept a temporary appointment at the University of South Florida to teach music theory as a replacement for Margery Enix who returned to IU to finish her doctorate. During that year I performed with the Tampa Philharmonic. During the summer of 1965, we returned to Baltimore. Shortly after that we learned that Missy was pregnant with Lisa who was born the following January at Union Memorial Hospital.

For many years, the Baldwins and the Rossi’s were very close friends and colleagues at IU. They had four girls: Carla, Gina, Lisa and Paula. Although we adored them all, I was especially taken with Lisa and thought, if ever we had a child, Lisa would be her name. This is one dream that came true.
