The following official documents chronicle the significant paper work that helped in the telling of my father’s history, one that he never shared with his immediate family.
Note: From the time he arrived in Hamburg until the time when he filed his Petition for Naturalization, his surname was Schochor. On his Certificate for Naturalization, his surname was officially changed to Schock as noted on the reverse side of the document. His brother Isaac’s surname, however, became Schocker. Both Harry’s and Isaac’s surnames in official Russian documents were Shokhor as seen in his Russian passport below.
